At a military base in northern virginia, a number of people have become ill. Some were rushed to the hospital after someone at the base opened a letter. Kris van cleave is following this situation from our d. C. Newsroom. Kris. Reporter well, jeff, this is being treated as a hazmat situation. Heres what we know. It was late this afternoon, when the Arlington County Fire Department responded to this hazmat situation. That Agency Reports loaf people began feeling ill after a letter was sent to an administrative building. It was opened, containing some kind of unknown substance. That building has been evacuated and three people were taken to the hospital. An investigation is now under way. The military base is located right next to Arlington National cemetery.
