Arlington Heights library creating noisy makerspace where people can learn By FOX 32 Digital Staff Published  Arlington Heights Memorial Library is at the forefront of a new space where people can learn loudly. ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - A suburban library is creating a makerspace for people to channel their creativity and learn loudly. A makerspace is a DIY collaborative place where people can build, design, sew, cook, said Arlington Memorial Heights Library Executive Director Mike Driskell. The library is in the process of building one of its own, but this one is a little different than ones you might usually find in libraries and schools.

Arlington Heights Library s 8,000-square-foot makerspace will be one of a kind nationwide

It s rare to have a stand-alone library makerspace let alone one as large as two stories and 8,000 square feet (and with a fully-equipped commercial kitchen, to boot). Construction crews are finishing what will be known as the Arlington Heights Memorial Library Makerplace.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Arlington Heights Park District will host a mass COVID-19 vaccination site this week for all residents 16 and over, and appointments are available. The park district will distribute 1,728 doses of the Pfizer vaccine on Wednesday, April 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arlington Ridge Center, 660 North Ridge Avenue. Registration is required for an appointment, and residents should only make a request if they are available on May 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., when the second dose is scheduled to be administered.
