TEMPE – Gloves are popping. Bats are cracking. And gates are opening.
Spring training baseball is back. But should it be? And, more important, should fans be able to attend the games just when the end to a global pandemic seems within reach?
These aren’t just health questions. They’re ethical ones.
“If it’s safe for baseball teams to be practicing and to travel here from all sorts of other parts of the country and set up, then why isn’t it (safe) for the symphony orchestra to be playing? Or for all the museums to be open?” said Dr. Mary Feeney, a Lincoln Professor of Ethics in Public Affairs at Arizona State University.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. Spring training kicked off Sunday for the San Diego Padres for a month of play at the Peoria Sports Complex in Arizona. It s the first time since March of last year that the Padres were able to play in front of fans and hear real crowd noise.

PHOENIX â It s official: Spring Training is on!
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all of the stadiums in the Arizona Cactus League will operate at significantly reduced capacities, allowing a reduced number of fans to attend each game.
Unsurprisingly, the experience will be a bit different due to the pandemic tickets will be sold in groups of two, four, and six; masks are required to be worn throughout the stadiums except when actively eating or drinking; no bags will be allowed inside the stadiums aside from small clutches, wallets, diaper bags and medical bags; and pre-game practices and autographs are closed to the public.

PHOENIX – With Major League Baseball pitchers and catchers expected to report in two weeks, Cactus League teams are scrambling to determine what spring training will look like for fans in 2021.
The league announced on Monday night that it is preparing for an on-time start to spring training and Opening Day as originally scheduled after the Players Association rejected the league’s proposal to delay the start of both by a month.
All 15 Cactus League teams have yet to offer spring training tickets for upcoming games on their team websites, and a recording at Camelback Ranch, the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox, said ticket sales “are undetermined at this time.” The Chicago Cubs did send an email to Sloan Park season ticket holders that said they were “shifting to limited, socially distanced pod-s
