McKenzie Campbell set a new school record in the 200 fly, while five women in total advanced to finals. Fellow sophomore
Ruben Lechuga qualified for the platform event finals, marking the third diving event that he has reached the finals in this year at ACCs.
“Today was a great way to finish off the week with another school record by McKenzie Campbell in the 200 fly,” said Toni M. and Richard L. Bergmark Swimming & Diving Head Coach
Courtney Shealy Hart. “I am so proud of the way the team competed. They had great focus and fantastic energy. We scored more points than we ever have before at ACCs. We had multiple B cuts and many life-time best times. We fought hard, and I look forward to the future with these ladies.”
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming wrapped up the 2020-21 regular season over the weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at McAuley Aquatic Center. The Invite served as a last chance meet for Tech before ACC Swimming & Diving championships get under way next week.
“I’m excited about how well we competed this weekend,” said Toni M. and Richard L. Bergmark Swimming & Diving Head Coach Courtney Shealey Hart. “We are grateful that Emmanuel College was able to come compete with us. I was especially proud of how our student-athletes cheered each other on. We want this kind of energy to be a precursor to how we support each other at ACC’s. We are looking forward to competing on the conference and national stage.”
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s swimming defeated Vanderbilt’s women, 190-64, in a dominant display that saw the Yellow Jackets take gold in every single event at the Saturday afternoon dual meet at McAuley Aquatic Center. “I am so proud of how our women went out and performed today,” said Toni M. and Richard L. Bergmark Swimming & Diving Head Coach
