Today governor nikki haley signed a bill into law calling for the removal from the Capitol Grounds. This flag is scheduled to come down tomorrow morning. In signing the bill Governor Haley said its time to remove the divisive symbol. With her were members of the victims families. The push to take it down intensified last month after the shooting deaths of nine people in a black church in charleston. The South Carolina house has overwhelmingly approved a measure to take down Confederate Flag from the state capitol. Lawmakers spent more than 13 hours debating the issue. Staet representative jenny horn delivered an emotional speech warning her fellow lawmakers that the world is watching. I cannot believe that we do not have the heart in this body to do something meaningful such as take a symbol of hate off these grounds on friday. And just after 1 00 this morning, the final vote, 9420. The bill must be ratified and then sent to governor nikki haley, who has already called for the flags removal. Shortly after the vote, Governor Haley posted a message saying, its a new day in South Carolina, a day we can all be proud of and a day that truly brings us together. She is live and spoke with the family. Reporter chad miller is in the icu. His family and friends are at his side. They have been here off and on since miller was transported here after a fight that got out of hand. Right now were just concerned about him being alive. Reporter brad miller says his son is in stable but critical condition. The junior plays safety for the san jose state football team. He was enjoying a night out with friends in downtown san jose when he encountered trouble. A fight erupted, and he ended up getting stabbed. He wasnt initially involved in the fight, but somehow he got stabbed. It happened on poe street. San jose police took security video from nearby businesses but so far they have not announced any arrests. Miller has been in the news before. In 2015 a teammate struck him in the head with a skateboard. His friends who showed up at the hospital today say miller is a chill guy who is not out looking for trouble. He minds his own business.
