long, but a lot of single mothers, you re absolutely right, there is a large number of single mothers out there, and the demographics are not typically those of natalie portman but they are not single mothers by choice. i think instead of putting the attention on the poor values that natalie portman is allegedly setting forth for us, we should be putting our focus on the education of our children and teaching our daughters and our sons, for that matter, about the implications, the long-term implications of unprotected sex, about the responsibilities of raising children, but i don t think that the majority of single mothers are going out there planning on being a single mother. it s either because they didn t know or plan for or understand how to prevent pregnancy or they were left by the father. okay, so, kind of along that theme, because it seems as if younger people, and i m talking ability teenagers are becoming more conservative when it comes to having sex at all.
but there aren t a lot of single moms out there making millions of dollars every year for being in a movie and i think it gives a distorted image that not everybody hires nannies and care takers and nurses. most single moms are poorly educated, can t get a job and if it weren t for government assistance their kids would be starving to death and wouldn t have health care. dr. laura berman is with us. welcome. thank you. michael huckabee was talking about single mothers, and let s face it many don t have the money natalie portman has and many single mothers do live in poverty. why is this a factor in american life? why so many single mothers? i don t think it s natalie portman s fault that there are so many single mothers, and, quite frankly, she s engaged to be married, so it s not like she s going to be single for
egypt s president, protests are celebrating arrival of the next prime minister. this is the scene a short time ago in cairo s tahrir square. calling himself the prime minister of the people he vowed to resign if he could not deliver the reforms that have been promised. there is a lot of buzz about an online campaign to get oprah winfrey to host a live show from tahrir square from tahrir square in egypt like when she went on the road with her show in australia. they report it is not true. tahrir square, of course, was ground zero for the revolution that ousted president hosni mubarak. we have nina in cairo. if oprah does come, how safe is the square now? we were just down there when it came down and we were in the middle of the crush. even though there was, obviously, a huge amount of
no. no. i think i really think he misinterpreted his his mandate. i think i don t a friend of mine said to me the other day, i thought a great line. i no longer hope for audacity, you know? and, you know, he s doubled down on a lot of things. going back to that education thing. one of the things if i were the adjustment bureau. this idea we re testing kids and we re tying teachers salaries to how the kids are performing on tests is just it s it s a really you know, that kind of thinking has nothing to do with higher order thinking. we re training them, not teaching them. the programs are getting cut out of a lot of these schools and the things focused on will wind up putting us in jeopardy down the road. if you missed piers interview with actor charlie sheen on monday, don t miss the encore tonight at 9:00 p.m.
people around us, it felt incredibly safe. you know, the egyptians have taken a huge amount of pride in how they say that they have carried out a peaceful uprising. the current prime minister of egypt was carried away on the shoulders of supporters. so i think for a lot of people if oprah winfrey did decide to come and broadcast from tahrir square and it was definitely a rumor that was causing a great deal of excitement here, i think for them, they would feel like it was a validation of the dignity and the respect, as they see it, that they carried out their uprising, carol. so oprah winfrey, is that popular in egypt? reporter: well, she s carried by one of the major arab broadcasters in the middle east. believe it or not, she is incredibly popular throughout the region. there are a lot of copy cat shows, very high profile fiance male journalists made their names in very similar formats.
