Coping with new issue besides the drought. Now very cold weather. Temperatures dropping below 40 degrees in some parts of the bay area. Experts say that is cold enough to hurt fragile and younger plants. Sam bryant says certain condition conditions can cause damage even when the temperature is above the freezing mark. We have a cold storm so theres cloud cover all day long. So the sun never hits the ground. Then at the end of the day, the cloud cover leaves. Thats when we will get frost. Bryant says covering plants will help protect against damage and there are spray products that can do the same job. He asked making sure plants are well watered can help save them. The most important thing is to take precautions before the cold settles in. Watering certain things if were going to get frost, put a sheet or some time some kind of towel around the roots.
