Assault weapons have been repeatedly used of weapons of deadly violence on our citizens. In just the last two years, las vegas, parkland, pittsburgh, poway, midland and odessa have seen Mass Shootings at the hands of a gunman with assault weapons. Last month we added el paso and dayton to the list of communities shattered by Mass Violence perpetrated by a gunman old with armed with assault weapons. Todays hearing is about whether america will tolerate weapons of war in our streets and in our neighborhood. Simply put civilian assault , weapons are just semi automatic versions of military weapons. Have passed bans on assault weapons, these have been proven too easy to evade.
