That’s according to a new report from
iMore, which explains that Apple’s App Store VP, Matt Fischer, on the fourth day of the Apple v. Epic trial, was presented with evidence, specifically an internal email, stating that he felt “strongly” about not featuring Apple’s competitors on its App Store.

According to the report, the internal email from 2016 shows Apple employees engaging in a discussion over a “VoiceOver” collection for Apple’s App Store.
The first email reads:
Hi Andrea,
Just spoke with Tanya about featuring Google and Amazon apps in the VoiceOver collection and she asked us to exclude them from the lineup. Although they may be our best and the brightest apps, Matt feels extremely strong about not featuring our competitors on the App Store store, so Yanta asked us to apply the same filters for this collection. I’m sorry I didn’t check this earlier.
Analyst firm Canalys has just shared its smartphone market analysis for Q1 2021, revealing that the worldwide smartphone shipments reached 347 million units during the period, with Samsung shipping 76.5 million units to take first place with a 22% share.
Apple came in at a second place, shipping 52.4 million iPhones to take a 15% share. While the iPhone 12 Mini has sold below expectations, the strength in other iPhone 12 models, as well as stronger demand for the older iPhone 11, helped the Cupertino company maintain strong momentum.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi clocked its best single-quarter performance ever, growing 62% and shipping 49.0 million units. Oppo and Vivo completed the top five, shipping 37.6 million units and 36.0 million units respectively.
Apple has announced its Q2 2021 financial results, for the quarter ended March 27, 2020. The company saw a record $89.6 billion in revenue for the quarter, up 54% year-over-year, with earnings per diluted share of $1.40, to go with international sales taking up 67% of Q2 revenue.
“This quarter reflects both the enduring ways our products have helped our users meet this moment in their own lives, as well as the optimism consumers seem to feel about better days ahead for all of us,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Leaks regarding the supposed launch date of the new iPad Pro, iMac, and Apple TV models have been surfacing this week. Multiple sources all point to Apple’s latest wave of products to be released on May 21.
Earlier this week, credible leaker Jon Prosser published a tweet stating that he had heard the 11-inch iPad Pro would be launching on May 22 with the 12.9-inch model releasing on May 21.

He later updated that claim, stating both models are slated for May 21 and that the May 22 date was regarding the 5G model with a certain carrier. Prosser has also stated that the new Apple TV would also be launching alongside the iPad Pro.
