Apple on Tuesday announced details on how it keeps the App Store a safe place for its customers, highlighting how the digital marketplace has “stopped more than $1.5 billion in potentially fraudulent transactions in 2020.”
The iPhone maker says since the App Store has launched, fraud has grown in scale and sophistication, and the company has matched threats with “relentless steps forward”.

“It takes significant resources behind the scenes to ensure these bad actors can’t exploit users’ most sensitive information, from location to payment details,” explained Apple in a press release.
“While it’s impossible to catch every act of fraud or ill intent before it happens, thanks to Apple’s industry-leading antifraud efforts, security experts agree the App Store is the safest place to find and download apps,” says the company.
Amazon on Wednesday announced new Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8 smart speakers with displays in Canada. These smart speakers are powered by the company’s Alexa digital assistant and can also control your compatible smart home devices, play music, stream media and more.
The new Echo Show 8 includes an 8-inch HD adaptive colour display, new oct-core processor, along with a 13MP wide-angle front camera with digital pan, tilt and zoom. There are also stereo speakers and the ability to turn off the mic and front camera with a shutter. The colours available are Glacier White and Charcoal.

Canadians can now pre-register for the beta version of the Clubhouse app for Android over at its official Google Play Store page, the company told iPhone in Canada in an email.
As soon as the app becomes available in Canada, those who pre-register will be informed via notification.
After more than a year as an iOS exclusive and overwhelming demand for an Android counterpart from its community, the invite-only, audio-based social media platform launched the official beta of its Android app earlier today.

The beta is currently only available to download and use in the U.S., but Clubhouse is working on expanding availability to other English-speaking regions (and the rest of the world) in the coming days and weeks. It shouldn’t take long for the beta to cross the border into Canada.

Sony privately briefed a group of analysts on the PS5’s supply after the company reported its quarterly earnings at the end of April,
