ROCHESTER, N.Y. To keep faith alive during the COVID-19 pandemic, those who lead took on roles they d never had before.
Pastor Rickey Harvey recently returned to the sanctuary at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church for service, for the first time in more than a year.
“It’s good to be here, it’s good to be here, and we’re glad that you’re worshipping with us today,” said Pastor Harvey.
While the pews are empty, the message remains the same.
“My role has been to keep hope alive, because we’ve had some dark days, we’ve had some very hard times,” the pastor said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. A month after announcing President and CEO Donald Lassere would be leaving the Muhammad Ali Center, the Center has named Laura M. Douglas as its Interim President and CEO.

Douglas has been a board member at the center for ten years

The nonprofit doesn’t have a physical shelter, and depends on volunteers to care for the animals until a forever home can be found
And even after I retired, I missed the kids, Nancy Donahue says.
Donahue taught third grade at Tropical Elementary for 12 years. After retiring, she subbed and tutored, still making a difference in children s lives.
Donahue got on teacher-related social media sites for her to continue to learn and grow. That s how I met this teacher from Africa, she says. I had been studying with my students about Malawi.
Temwani too, was a third-grade teacher with 264 students. Yes, 264 by herself.
Donahue jumped in and asked how she could help. She said pens, I said, ‘Writing pens?’ Donahue recalls. She said, Yes, the students don t have pens to take exams. ”
