Our CorrespondentMokokchung, Nov. 21 (EMN): ‘Childline Se Dosti’, a weeklong national campaign that aims to make citizens stakeholders in CHILDLINE 1098, culminated on November 20 in Mokokchung district. The campaign involved an array of events and activities across the country to spread awareness on CHILDLINE 1098, the emergency phone helpline number for children in need of care and protection. In Mokokchung too, under the directive of the Childline India Foundation (CIF), Childline 1098 Mokokchung observed ‘Childline Se Dosti’ week from November 14 to the 20th by organising various activities to mark the celebration. The Childline visited Unger village and sensitised the parents followed by distribution of stationeries to about 50 children. Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Oct. 12 (EMN): The Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) Trophy 2022 was kicked off by Aotula T Imchen, SP Mokokchung, at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on October 11. Imchen in her speech, lauded the MDFA for successfully hosting the tournament for the service of the public and also successfully hosting the Dr.T Ao Trophy. She also said the tournament was a great platform to promote and motivate grassroots level participation while improving the level of the players to strive towards playing in state, national and international levels. “We all know football is not just a beautiful game but it is also an emotion for many people. Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Sep. 27 (EMN): Six persons were arrested by Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) troopers and Mokokchung Police personnel in connection with an abduction case on September 26 evening. Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung, Aotula T Imchen informed that the operation team initially arrested four persons at Akhoya village junction during the wee hours on September 26, and later arrested two more persons. She also informed that arms and ammunition of various calibers and other equipment were recovered from the arrested persons during the operation. Imchen said that on September 21, a written complaint was received at Changtongya Police Station stating that Ramakant Giri, a senior supervisor of Nitin Sai Construction Company went missing from Changtongya town. She added that upon receiving the complaint, a search and rescue operation was immediately launched and a case was registered. Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Sep. 7 (EMN): In a shocking incident, a 60-year-old man was arrested by Mokokchung Police allegedly for sexually abusing a minor on September 6. The accused has been identified as one Tongpangmeren, from Kinunger village in Mokokchung district. SP Mokokchung, Aotula T Imchen, informed Eastern Mirror that a complaint was received from the victim’s family on September 6. The police immediately registered the case at Women Police Station and arrested the accused on the day itself, she added. Both the victim and the accused have been produced before the medical board for medical examination and investigation is still on-going. Sources informed that the accused had sexually abused the victim between June and July on different occasions. The case came to light when the victim complained about pain on her body to the parents, and upon further inquiry, the incidents were revealed, the source informed.
