International Airlines Group has confirmed that Antonio Vazquez has retired as a director of the company and chairman of the board.
As previously announced, Javier Ferran has succeeded him as chairman.
Ferran said: “Antonio was instrumental in the creation and development of IAG and has led the board with integrity and rigour since the group’s formation in January 2011.
“He has made a huge contribution to IAG and, previously, in his role as president of Iberia.
“On behalf of the board, I’d like to thank Antonio for his commitment and support and wish him well in the future.”

British Airways secures £2bn loan facility to be ready for recovery in demand

British Airways has secured a £2 billion loan to help it weather the pandemic and be ready for a recovery in demand.
The carrier’s owner International Airlines Group (IAG) – which also owns Iberia and Aer Lingus – said the five-year loan facility was underwritten by a syndicate of banks and is partially guaranteed by the Government’s UK Export Finance (UKEF).
BA, which is set to drawdown from the loan in January, is able to repay the loan at any time with notice, but is bound by some restrictions on dividend payments by the airline to IAG.

(Harrisburg, PA) Police are charging two men for their role in a robbery that started with a drug deal gone wrong in Harrisburg last week. Leonard Quattlebaum and William Hawkins are both accused in the incident on the 100-block of South Second Street Friday night. The 29-year-old Quattlebaum and his 20-year-old accomplice decided to rob a third man during a marijuana buy. It’s reported the gun used in the robbery was stolen from Swatara Township. The two are in Dauphin County Prison on 100-thousand-dollars bail.
Jackson Township, Pa. â State police at Selinsgrove troopers, through the course of an investigation, determined a person involved in a fatal accident allegedly gave a false statement.
According to a Dec. 18 press release by Trooper William Shreve, Antonio Vazquez, 48, of York, gave a false statement to officers regarding the investigation.
Shreve said charges were filed through Magisterial District Court 17-3-03 in Snyder County.
According to a report from the Daily Item, Vazquez was traveling southbound in a 2019 Ford F-350 on the morning of Aug. 6. The truck reportedly crossed the center line and collided with a 2009 Harley-Davidson Sportster operated by Dean Dorman, 52, of Selinsgrove.
