in mike pence, you have essentially during the campaign we talked how trump was the anti-obama. in many ways pence is the anti-trump. you don t get into this stage of politics without having a healthy ego. he has an unassuming air about him, very well respected on capitol hill. he s a movement conservative. democrats don t agree with him much but they like him, too. we won t know till 100 days in or more what his influence with the president is. at the moment, he has an important role in large part because trump trusts him and doesn t know congress. i talked to a republican senator who said of mike pence, he s one before us. donald trump is donald trump. i don t think that was meant at critically as it sounds when you say it. a lot of the republicans on capitol hill don t know when push comes to shove, will he listen to democrats or go back to prior democratic tendencies or be one of them. they do trust pence. you know, one thing i was going to say is that these
personal i think president obama is trying to figure out a way to show that he s tough. jackie, this is personal? right? here is donald trump who ran as the anti-obama and is poised to roll back much of what obama has been able to do. of course, it s personal. this quickly becomes not about president obama and how trump reacts to other people. to world leaders that might not like him. to members of congress who don t like him. how he reacts to them and how he sort of like takes a punch and moves on. this could be a major distraction during his administration if he doesn t kind of get a handle on this. need to punch back for every single thing. because this could cause an international incident. it s not out of the realm of possibility. going back and forth, trump and obama in terms of this relationship, enemies, sort of friends and then frenemies and
obama may have started this. saying if he was on the ballot, running a third temple, of course couldn t mean, these you saw each other. and they were then trump said nice things about obama but, you know, the gloves are off again with this and so i think we ll see more of this. these they re two competitive guys and when it comes to trump he is a little thin skinned and i think you can also argue that obama didn t have to say that. he didn t he lost. in some ways obamaism lost, right? i mean, if anything donald trump ran as the anti-obama and he ended up winning.
all right. and rick, as i mentioned, there s a wider context when you look at obviously the concerns around fake news and propaganda throughout the election. but then more specifically, put that to the side and say, okay, but your national security adviser, in the same ballpark of information has this problem. i can read to you here, in the days before the election, general flynn s bristled with all caps exclamations about bizarre clinton conspiracy theories and others. it s less of the good intel, and possibly more of the bad. yeah. and he himself, trump himself might be a security risk. i imagine that the intelligence agencies are two minds about the wisdom of fully briefing this particular president-elect, who when he was briefed during the campaign, characterized his briefers as being, if i remember this correctly, anti-hillary and anti-obama. right. so that right there was a breach of the confidentiality that s supposed to go along with this. sure. you know, he has sai
trump seems to wipe out people. i think of a man his age that he s not going to change very much. i do think that there is probably some medthod to the madness. i don t think it is comforting for people watching it. i think trump will like this kind of drama around him. he s in so many ways the anti-obama. and the way that president obama was no drama and hated the notion of conflict and leaking. trump he belie trump rebels it and he likes the attention and he s the chaos candidate. unfortunately, i think he s going to be the chaos president and of course, a lot of consequences for both the
