special counsel jack smith is looking for in the classified documents probe. as with the $5 million defamation and sexual abuse judgment against donald trump, his own words are once again being used against him in a court of law. this time we re of course talking about that stunning february 2021 audio recording. donald trump bragging about a secret document with plans to attack iran at bedminster. to a writer working on a book, the discovery of that recording according to report from the wall street journal we discussed on this program last week, we know was a watershed moment that helped spur doj into pursuing a criminal case against the ex-president. days after his indictment on 37 felony counts, the ex-president claimed this. there was no document. that was a massive amount of papers and everything else talking about iran and other things, and it may have been held up or may not, but that was not a document. i didn t have a document per se. there was nothing to declas
some turbulence in the intelligence community about wanting to declassify the entirety or parts of this document because it s viewed as being so potentially compromising. that s one other potential possibility for why it wasn t included. well, glenn, that s really interesting. i mean, obviously chairman mark milley is still the chairman of the joint chiefs. he s still in office, and any strategy for i mean, i hate even saying it out loud, but any sort of strategy for attacking iran may still very well be operational. it may still represent the current strategy. i mean, it raises the question at the center of all of this, what he was so casual and loose about with a writer who s, you know, guffawing, and you know, making jokes about anthony weaner and hillary clinton. it is what you just said. it is this true reveal. the curtain comes down, you see his naked pettiness, his naked callousness with state secrets and his pure unbridled hatred of
they supported anybody basically but trump, and in retrospect, i knew it the whole time, and anybody should have. anybody should have been for anybody but trump, if you were an american and intelligent and understanding, but they were, but it didn t influence their actions. their political opinions did not impact their professional conduct, and they were professionals and in fact, strzok worked with james comey on the statement and didn t object to doing it late october to have the hillary clinton, anthony weaner, quote unquote e-mails opened up which was part of what caused the election to go to trump, and there was no objections from strzok on that. james comey is concerned about the future, and the moral has been hurt there and america s national security is hurt if people don t respect the fbi and the justice department and what the republicans and trump have done is hurt america, hurt us around the world and hurt the respect for basic fundamental
the fbi director said explicitly that it was the trump any possible connection between the trump campaign and the the reason for the investigation, the focus of that investigation was determining those hacks and whether or not, as you re trying to protect the integrity of election day itself and not being able to hack into our systems, state board of elections, that was the purpose for what was going on. that was the focus of it. incidentally, as you are progressing and start learning more of the factsings the investigation evolves. can i help the congressman? go for it. the answer to the question is, yes, the american people deserved to know there was an investigation going on prior to the election. did you support comey s letter 11 days before the election? no, i did not so you contradicted yourself. what s good for the goose is good for the gander. if you want to come out and say i ve been investigating anthony weaner and we found these e-mails on a computer an
on s computer belonging to anthony weaner who is married to huma abedin. clinton s dose aide. they worked around the clock in the letter to congress and they used technology to go through the e-mails as quickly as they could. it s really extraordinary because just friday we were talking about officials at the fbi and they were not sure. they didn t think they could finish this before election day. they were finished today and they briefed combo findings and comey sent the letter as soon as he could. it s an unbelievable development. we have been talking about this for months. every time it can t get any crazier, it does. when it can t get more bizarre, it does. what is trump saying sn. jim acosta.
