AJ Quetta attends HS graduation months after severe hockey injury

Updated: 1:16 PM EDT Jun 5, 2021 A Massachusetts high school hockey player who suffered a severe spinal cord injury more than four months ago is now a high school graduate.A.J. Quetta s senior year at Bishop Feehan High School took a tough turn when he was seriously injured during a Jan. 26 game against Pope Francis in West Springfield.Quetta was taken off the ice on a stretcher after crashing headfirst into the boards and was rushed to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.He was transferred from Baystate to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Jan. 29 and then made the move to Shepherd Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta on Feb. 16.After spending more than three months at Shepherd Rehab, Quetta recently returned to his home in North Providence, Rhode Island, and continued his rehab at Journey Forward in Canton, Massachusetts. Get well soon. “We just want them to know that all residents of town are soldiers in AJ’s army for a full recovery,” said Lombardi. “We needed to let this family know that North Providence is a community that cares.” The mayor told The Breeze his daughter also had the idea to have window signs made for businesses. In addition to the 10 already made, he plans to have another 25 or so available to businesses as of this Thursday, Feb. 18, with business owners able to pick them up at his office.

AJ s Army supports injured teammate AJ Quetta as he s transferred

AJ s Army turned out in force Tuesday morning to support their teammate AJ Quetta, a hockey player from North Providence who was seriously injured in a high school hockey game last month. Quetta, who suffered a spinal cord injury, has been treated at Massachusetts General Hospital and is being transferred today to the Shepherd Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta. A tweet from Bishop Feehan Athletics shows Quetta s teammates, in their game jerseys, lining the walkway and holding their sticks in the air as Quetta is led from the hospital Tuesday morning.
