Edward S. Krause Edward S. Krause, 67, of North East passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1953, in Ventura, Calif., the son of the late Willis C. and Gertrude (Bielo) Krause. Ed graduated from Ripley Central School in 1971 and was a gifted mechanic. Over the years, he worked for The Electric Materials Company (TEMCO) and as service manager for Cunningham’s of North East and North East Motors. He also worked for Stars & Bars Aircraft, Huntington, IN restoring vintage aircraft, specifically T-6 aircraft, used during WWII for pilot training. Ed was a private pilot and well-known among the local aircraft community. He was a sought-after aircraft mechanic and builder, and repaired and rebuilt many experimental airplanes.

11 charged with conspiring to smuggle drugs into central Alta prison

  EDMONTON Eleven people allegedly were part of a drug trafficking network in Edmonton and planning to smuggle fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine into the prison system, police say. The group faces a total of 60 charges and consists of Edmonton, St. Albert and Morinville residents, as well as current inmates. The provincial taskforce that deals with some of Alberta s most serious and organized crime, Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT), says the ring trafficked drugs in the capital region and conspired to smuggle drugs into the prison system and had established connections to Bowden Institution. The investigation, called Project Evolve, began in June 2019.
