LETTER | The late Dr Anthony (Anthonysamy Savarinathan) who passed away last week (on May 29) was a household name for us the Good Shepherd Sisters, who resided in Hulu Kelang, Ampang and had the great privilege of meeting the doctor.
Anthony Clinic was a few miles away from our convent and although busy with streams of patients, Dr Anthony would assure us that we could come over whenever we phoned to say we had somebody; a sister, staff or a resident in our centre who was needing to see the doctor.
Physicians from the St. Anthony and McFarland Clinics along with staff from Carroll County Public Health will be recording a joint educational discussion to provide the latest information on vaccinations, statistics and long-term health issues for some who had COVID. The group will present the current COVID statistics and will not only answer some of the most frequently asked questions on safety concerns and herd immunity they will also discuss shared goals for the future and introduce two COVID-19 patients who continue to have symptoms long after their acute infections. St. Anthony Regional Hospital announced today (Monday) the beginning of a partnership with Siouxland Urology Associates P.C. to begin providing urology services at their campus in Carroll. Dr. Adam Althaus from the Siouxland-based group of specialists will begin seeing patients at the St. Anthony Clinic on May 10
th. Dr. Althaus is trained in a variety of fields, including: general urology, robotic surgeries, female incontinence and prolapse surgery, voiding dysfunction, men’s health, kidney stone disease and pediatric urology. However, his chief area of interest is in genitourinary malignancies, such as kidney, bladder and prostate cancer. Early this (Tuesday) morning, the Associated Press released this information: “The U.S. is recommending a “pause” in administration of the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of potentially dangerous blood clots. In a joint statement Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said it was investigating clots in six women in the days after vaccination, in combination with reduced platelet counts.
