Clemson Tigers Valerie Cagle Embracing Opportunity with Second-Year Program - Sports Illustrated Clemson Tigers News, Analysis and More

Apr 20, 2021 Valerie Cagle might have sneaked up on some, but the Clemson two-way softball star has left the ACC and now the country with no doubt of the talent she has on the diamond. The journey to leading a second-year program into the top 25 began a lot differently than most, and on the outside, joining a new program could be a headscratcher, but not when the head coach is John Rittman, Cagle said. The big thing with Clemson was, it s hard to pass up on an opportunity to be a part of something like this, Cagle said. The culture that Coach Rittman talks about wanting to create, and what we have created, it s just something that you know is going to be so special. So getting that opportunity when not a lot of people get that opportunity, it s hard to pass up on.

Clemson Softball Ready for Inaugural Rivalry Game

Apr 21, 2021 The Clemson Tigers (32-4, 22-4) finally have their first chance at a rivalry softball matchup with South Carolina (23-17, 2-13). While the Gamecocks are coming off just their second SEC victory, the Tigers are on a different level of a hot streak. Head coach John Rittman and his second-year program are riding their second 10+ game winning streak of the season, and with the postseason on the horizon, the first rivalry matchup could either be a trap game or a stroll through the park for Rittman s streaking Tigers. Yeah, you know I ve heard a lot about (the rivalry), Rittman said. Obviously been to the basketball, football, baseball, all the other sporting events and I ve seen the rivalry games take place in those sports and it s special.
