The Clemson Softball team (16-2, 8-2 ACC) scored at least one run in the first four innings of its second game of the day at McWhorter Stadium in an 8-1 win over Furman. With the win, the Tigers’ earned their fourth consecutive series sweep and 13th win in a row. Clemson second-year freshman righty Valerie Cagle, the ACC’s wins leader, improved to 10-1 on the season after pitching 4.0 innings without surrendering a single earned run in Saturday’s second contest. Offensively, the Tigers were led by shortstop Ansley Gilstrap, who went 2-for-3 at the plate and tallied a game-high three RBIs.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.
The Clemson Softball team earned its tenth straight victory by a final score of 8-1 over Virginia on Sunday afternoon at Palmer Park. Clemson shortstop Ansley Gilstrap went 4-for-4 at the plate, including a triple and a double, and a game-high three RBIs to lead the Tigers in their third consecutive series sweep and second straight ACC road series sweep.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 13-2 overall and 8-2 in ACC play, while Virginia fell to 6-9 overall and 2-7 in league games.
After Virginia took a 1-0 lead in the first, the Tigers responded with a three-run inning in the top of the third. Catcher JoJo Hyatt evened the score on a solo shot to left field, her first career home run. Gilstrap’s second hit of the day was an RBI single to score outfielder McKenzie Clark, who was on third after registering her third triple of the season. CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Softball team completed the series sweep over Elon with an 8-0 victory in five innings on Sunday afternoon at McWhorter Stadium. The Tigers held Elon scoreless over the course of the all three games this weekend. Second-year freshman righty Valerie Cagle surrendered just two hits in Saturday’s victory and improved to 6-1 in the circle this season. Clemson improved to 9-2 overall, while the Phoenix fell to 2-3 on the season.
The Tigers took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning with a RBI single by Ansley Gilstrap to score lead-off batter McKenzie Clark from second base. The inning continued with an additional pair of Clemson runs scored on Marissa Guimbarda’s 40th career homer. Guimbarda, who leads the Tigers with five home runs on the season, also homered in the final play of game No. 2 in Saturday’s doubleheader.
