Tonight, i am proud to stand with a person who says we should not be building walls, we should be knocking down barriers. Akron and iwas in was on stage with William Jefferson clinton and i looked at him at one point, he was in akron because of the ohio primary and i turned to him and said, no offense mr. President but Hillary Clinton is the most qualified person to run for president in my lifetime. [applause] and she is. He smiled and laughed and clapped and i think he meant it. Here is what it is about hillary. I trust her to fight for children and families because she has done that all of her life. Days with the Childrens Defense Fund to her time in the senate helping lead on the Childrens Health insurance plan. I trust Hillary Clinton to fight for human rights and Voting Rights and womens rights. Alabama as a in civil rights worker at 25 to the work she did is our secretary of state on behalf of women all over the world and womens rights. I trust Hillary Clinton on trade and manufa
Education that is a monopoly. Colleges and universities are the only ones allowed to serve degrees without providing a job in the worst part of it is, they borrowed money to pay for the degree so now they have thousands and thousands of dollars in student loans. And that you only job he can get, they could have gotten without the degree. We have been failed by every big institution. Every day, we find out they have cheated someone. They lied about something. They lied to their stockholders, investors, took multimillion dollar bonuses while the company was going into the tank. We have been failed by everyone and people are not confident in our institutions and it leads to anger and frustration. That is why leadership matters. Leadership does not come to you and say, lets be angry and angrier. Leadership says, yes, we have real problems and we also have answers and solutions. The solutions do not lie in one person. I always get uncomfortable and people say, we put all of our faith in you
Figured i can bend the rules as long as no one gets hurt. In fact no one knew the story fully until i have told that in the book. The state department now is finding out about it. Other questions . Everyone wants to get their book signed. Thats great. Thank you all for coming. [applause] [inaudible conversations] i knew there was a risk in the bohemian lifestyle and they say did to take it because whether its an illusion or not i dont think it is, it helps my concentration. It stopped me from being bored. It stopped other people from being bored to some extent. It would keep me awake and make me eager to go on longer below the conversation to enhance the moment. If i was asked what i do it again, the answer is probably yes. I would have quit earlier possible in order to get away with the whole thing. Easy for me to say but its not very nice for my children to year. Sounds are responsible if i will say yeah i would do it all again to put the truth is they would be hypocritical of me to
Basically grew out of the Space Program. Prosthetic limbs. There are a whole range of medical inventions, devices that have come as a direct result of having made vibrant Space Program. People say, well, they are very expensive, the cost of those spinoffs has now been worth it. I guess it is a value judgment. It depends how you measure the value to you get for the los. Offer me Airline Safety is worth a great deal. I am sure for you it is as well, peter. Host what kind of money do we spend annually on the International Space station . Is there a return on that investment . Guest well, squeeze been a decreasing amount of our Gross Domestic Product on a. It is not like it was in the 60s when we were in the space race, if you will, where we spent up to of 4 percent of gdp. Now we are well below 1 . And actually, that has decreased even further. We have no Delivery System for u. S. Astronauts right now. We are using the russian spacecraft to send our people. It will be several years before
Marge said this is ridiculous. You are going into space. I cant go to the cape. What is going on out there . She tells him that hed better drive her out there and he hides her under some blankets in the back of his car and they go past military guards and she gets out there and pops up her hat and it is sort of a lonely beach jetties and scrub brush and what not. The whole country is dying for a cigarette. This is the kind of spunk and irreverence that these women brought to this brave new world of being an astronaut wife. You have seven women, all different walks of life, allen sheppards wife louise was very highbred. I think of her as the sabrina and audrey have removed character. She drew up as the gardeners daughter at longwould gardens and stayed on the east coast so when she met Jackie Kennedy she almost treated jackie like she was an old friend, they were two private school girls almost, getting to know each other. You have this band forming, these women are in the public eye an
