The Princeton University Art Museum Reintroduces Its Celebrated American Art Collections in a Boldly Reconsidered Exhibition

(PRINCETON, NJ) American art made across four centuries will be the subject of a far-reaching new traveling exhibition organized by the Princeton University Art Museum. Object Lessons in American Art, drawn entirely from the Museum’s venerable collections, presents more than one hundred works of Euro-American, African American, and Native American art, created between the eighteenth century and today, to ask fundamental questions about artistic significance and how meaning changes across time, place, and context.

Acclaimed Photographer and Man of a Thousand Faces Samuel Fosso Is the Subject of a Major Survey at the Princeton University Art Museum

(PRINCETON, NJ) This fall the Princeton University Art Museum will present Samuel Fosso: Affirmative Acts, the first major US survey of one of the most renowned contemporary artists based in Africa today. The exhibition curated by Princeton University Professor Chika Okeke-Agulu with Silma Berrada, Lawrence Chamunorwa, Maia Julis, and Iheanyi Onwuegbucha will be on view at Art on Hulfish in downtown Princeton from November 19 to January 29, 2023, and will offer US audiences an introduction to one of the best-known photographers from the African continent on the international scene.

Times Relentless Melt, ten artists ruminations on the complex nature of time opens at the Princeton University Art Museum

(PRINCETON, NJ) The ways we grapple with time its use as a measuring tool for our lives, its nature as both intangible and tangible, and its unceasing march forward are the subject of the exhibition Time’s Relentless Melt at the Princeton University Art Museum. Curated by Katherine Bussard, the Museum’s Peter Bunnell Curator of Photography, the exhibition will be on view August 20 through November 6, 2022, at Art on Hulfish, the Museum’s photo-forward gallery in downtown Princeton.
