Home goods brand OKA will open its first US store in Houston By Diane Cowen, Staff writer
UK-based home goods store OKA will land in the U.S. this spring with its first store, setting up shop in 9,000 square feet of vacant retail space on West Alabama.
OKA is expected to open in April at 3461W. Alabama, where the Wisteria store used to be. (That store opened in November 2019 but closed the following July.)
The retailer, headquartered in Chelsea, London, was founded in 1999 by three women: Sue Jones, Annabel Astor and Lucinda Waterhouse. It was acquired in 2019 by the Investindustrial independent investment group. Astor remains its chairwoman and Jones is creative director. The OKA name is a phonetic take on the color ochre, a nod to the Far East and Britian, too.
