Burlington’s Jillian Duffy and Woodbury’s Lindiana Frangu held on to their respected crowns for a year longer than anyone else has in the history of the Miss Connecticut Scholarship Organization. This month, the two women finally give up their titles.

Miss Connecticut Jillian Duffy, a Lewis S. Mills High School graduate, will crown her successor when the 2021 pageant takes place at Mohegan Sun on April 10-11.
Duffy, Miss Connecticut, and Frangu, Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen, have held their titles for nearly two years. But the duo did not greedily refuse to give up their crowns and sashes. Instead, world events undermined their best efforts to finally welcome their successors.

MILFORD For as long as she can remember, the Milford Library has been an integral part of Ashley Volkens’ life. The new Friends of the Milford Library’s 2021 president, Volkens said it was time for the library to take a more leading role in the community at large.
Volkens was named incoming president for 2021 at the Friends of the Milford Library’s virtual Annual Meeting and Thank You Celebration on Sunday, Jan. 24. She has been involved with the group for three years, two years on the board and one as a volunteer for the Party in the Stacks. Her love of books began much earlier, though.
