The match was recently added to the schedule and allows for the rivalry to be renewed. The Seminoles head into this matchup with a 5-1 record after a 4-3 victory vs North Florida. Senior Vic Allen looks to continue her hot start to the 2023 spring season. Allen is 4-1 on the season and was able to come back from a 1-5 deficit in the second set to win the match 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4 singles. Junior Ellie Schoppe and senior Kianah Motosono are a perfect 4-0 in doubles in the 2023 spring season, winning their last match 6-3 against North Florida. Junior Anna Arkadianou is ranked 78th in the national singles rankings and has played at the No. 1 spot in every match she has appeared in this season. Schoppe and Motosono were able to capture a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles against 7th-ranked Stanford, and the duo currently has a six-match win streak stretching back to the fall season. TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State women’s tennis team is playing the ITA Kickoff Weekend hosted by Stanford University, facing Arkansas on Friday and either host Stanford or Kansas State on Saturday. The Seminoles are 3-0 in 2023 after a perfect opening weekend at home. FSU defeated FGCU 6-1 on Friday before sweeping a Sunday doubleheader over Mercer and FAMU by scores of 7-0 and 4-0, respectively. Senior Vic Allen and junior Ellie Schoppe lead the Seminoles with three singles wins. Allen was dominant in the season’s first weekend, winning 37 of 43 games played and taking four of the six sets at love, including 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 final scores on Sunday at the No. 2 singles position. FSU’s season opener is Friday at 3 p.m. against FGCU, and then the Seminoles host Mercer and FAMU in a Sunday doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. Florida State is led by junior Anna Arkadianou, who is 52nd in the preseason individual rankings. The Athens, Greece, native won nine singles matches and three doubles contests during the fall season, including undefeated singles runs at The Fall Tournament at Alabama and the UNF Invitational. Sophomore Olympe Lancelot earned a team-best 10 singles victories during the fall while adding six wins in doubles.
