WDT partners with Wall Meat Processing to offer new degrees in meat processing WDTL-R: Ann Bolman, Ed.D., Western Dakota Tech President; Janet Niehaus and Ken Charfauros, Wall Meats Owners, and Kaden Eisenbraun, WDT Farm and Ranch Management Program Director RAPID CITY, SD – Western Dakota Technical (WDT) College is excited to announce a new partnership with Wall Meats that is sure to benefit many in this region. WDT and Wall Meats are working together to implement a Meat Processing instructional program at the college. The collaboration was approved by the WDT Board of Trustees during its February meeting. The goal is, once the program is developed and receives all necessary approvals, to begin courses in 2022.

In April 2020, Wall Meats reached out to Western Dakota Tech to start a meat processing course, and the collaboration was approved by the WDT board of trustees this month. “This gives ranchers a better price for their meat and a more stable market,” said President of WDT, Ann Bolman. “It also gives consumers a better opportunity for good quality meat at a price that they can afford. And for producers in the middle, it gives lots career opportunities.”

KNBN NewsCenter1 December 13, 2020 RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Western Dakota Tech Board of Trustees met virtually with West River legislators to share updates about the school and the future of tech education and careers in the region. A big topic of discussion was possible curriculums in which to invest. Lawmakers shared the Top 30 Hot Careers of South Dakota, in which Western Dakota Tech has programs in 20. WDT President Ann Bolman says keeping an open dialogue with legislators is beneficial for the economy, allowing students to get into the workforce quickly. “Legislators are awesome partners with Western Dakota Tech because they have a very broad view about the issues in South Dakota as well as their communities, and so we can make our economy throughout our region stronger with our legislators,” Bolman said.
