Trailing by as many as six points in the third set of Wednesday's Class 1A state volleyball semifinal against No. 2 Boyden-Hull, third-ranked Fort Madison Holy Trinity stayed the course and stormed back strong to complete the sweep.
Tuesday night on Y99.3 in Class 1A State Volleyball action 3-seed Holy Trinity ended 6-seed Don Bosco’s season 25-21, 25-17, 25-21. Holy Trinity will face Boyden-Hull Wednesday and Ankeny Christian will play BCLUW in the other semifinal.
Even after dropping the third set, BCLUW was not about to be denied. It came on strong in the final two sets to complete an 18-25, 29-27, 20-25, 25-16, 15-11 victory over Saint Ansgar in the Class 1A state volleyball quarterfinals.
