County should help, not hinder, CWD management (2/15/2021)
As the at-large member of the public on the Board of Animal Health Farmed Cervid Advisory Committee, I was extremely concerned that our county commissioners’ failed to cooperate with the DNR to continue in the DNR s attempts to assess the severity of chronic wasting disease (CWD) by taking whitetail deer to sample on county property. While every individual may not be aware that CWD is a highly contagious, fatal, neurological disease that can be spread through deer, elk, soil, plants and water, the DNR has presented to the County Board for the past few years to keep that group informed.
