KANPUR: A case of bird flu has been detected at Kanpur Zoological Park on Saturday, said Zoo Director Dr Sunil Choudhary. The zoo has been closed for visitors for 15 days, he added. Authorities will send more samples of birds in the coming days, Choudhary added.
Kanpur Zoological Park authorities on Friday increased the monitoring as four birds were found dead in the premises on January 6. The samples have been sent to the Animal Disease Laboratory of Bhopal under high security.
In the wake of the mortality of poultry, crows, and migratory birds from the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh, the Centre has suggested measures to states and Union Territories to prevent the spread of the disease.

Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], January 9 (ANI): At a time when avian influenza has been detected in several states, over four lakh chickens have died in Haryana in the last month, JP Dalal, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Fisheries Minister of Haryana said on Saturday.
Samples from two poultry farms in Haryana have tested positive for H5N8 (Bird Flu), Dalal said. He added that as per the guidelines, all birds within a 1 km radius of where the birds tested positive will be culled and buried.

poultry or poultry products. It has also issued appropriate advisories to restore consumer confidence affected by rumors is put to rest.
These six include Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Gujarat. Awareness among poultry farmers and the general public (consumers of eggs and chicken) about the disease is of foremost importance. Communication from Secretary (AHD) has been sent to Health Ministry to restore consumer confidence in consumption of chicken and eggs, the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said.

New Delhi [India], January 9 (ANI): As many as 17 crows were found dead at a park in Delhi s Mayur Vihar Phase 3, two at a DDA park in Dwarka, and 16 in Hastsal village of West district on Saturday, following which the Delhi government collected samples to investigate for avian influenza that has been seen in several parts of the country.
