A man who ran at police while holding a “sharp object” and refused to stop is now in critical condition after he was shot Thursday night by Daytona Beach Police officers outside the Icon One Apartments at One Daytona, according to police and body camera video.
The 25-year-old man, Andy A. Mansilla, was taken Halifax Health Medical Center, according to a police press release.
On Thursday, officers responded to the Icon One Apartments inside One Daytona after a call at 9:51 p.m. about a domestic disturbance.
Officers responded after one of the people who called 9-1-1 said two men were arguing in a parking lot off Legends Lane and one man had indicated he would “stab someone” if he saw police arrive, the release said.
