Some using chain saws and others clearing branchs thousands are stacked up, waiting to get through the pinch point so theyre working as quickly as possible. The trees branchs span eastbound lanes and a car was hit by a tree. Then on the westbound side, you can see wires that were live wires. Slow traffic because of blocked lanes on interstate 238. This is traffic backing up on 580. The bart commute was a mess today. High winds stopped service in several areas. Hayward fire just tweeted this photo of a large tree right on the bart tracks sitting right there in south hayward. Elsewhere bart says a 30foot log fell on to the tracks between the glen park and balboa park stations in San Francisco. Service just started up again between 24th and mission in daly city. And for part of the afternoon at least trains were not running between concord and Pleasant Hill because of wind blown debris on the tracks. And incredible pictures of damage coming into the newsroom tonight. This giant redwood tree came crashing down on to a home in north napa. And this photo from san jose, this tree toppled on to the moss creek mobile home community. The tree by the parking lot fell on to a building. No reports of any injuries. Reporter commuters are happier than when we first arrived at bart and 24th because things have cleared up. This came at the worst time. It came at the peak of the evening commute. People traveling for the new years eve holidays several of them trying to get to sfo and for those few hours, they had to seek outside transportation. Were talking monis or rideshare options like uber or lyft that were certainly on surge prices as i checked and as you can imagine bart riders we spoke with were not happy. Its coming from work and its cold, the weather, transportation, people all over you. And you want to get home. Im cold right now so its like last thing i want to do is sitting out in the wind and cold and not be able to go out tomorrow. Reporter all of this because of those high winds that caused a tree to fall on the tracks. There are still ongoing p
