The merger will be effective July 1. The Saints Rose and Clement church building will be the primary worship site. The St. Catherine and St. Francis of Assisi church buildings will remain available for occasional use, as pastoral needs demand, according to the diocese.

The Diocese of Providence has announced that it is merging three parishes in Warwick. Due to a steady decline in the number of parishioners and sacramental activity; given the sharp decrease in the number of priests available for parish assignments, Bishop Thomas J. Tobin announced he has approved that St. Catherine and St. Francis of Assisi parishes be merged canonically into SS. Rose and Clement Parish, effective July 1, 2021.

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) Three Catholic parishes in Warwick will merge as the priest that has led two of the parishes retires.
St. Catherine and St. Francis of Assisi parishes will join Saints Rose and Clement Parish, the Diocese of Providence announced Monday, citing a decline in attendance of parishioners and the lack of available priests for parish assignments.
Bishop Thomas Tobin approved the merger after “thorough consultations with the affected parishes and with the diocesan College of Consultors and the Council of Priests,” the diocese said.
Starting July 1, worshippers will join one parish and the Saints Rose and Clement church building will be used as the main site for the parish.
The Algonac City Council approved the purchase of new water plant chemical pumps, as well as a couple of other agenda items at its virtual Dec. 15 meeting.
âThe water plant needs three new pumps: chlorine feed, chlorine transfer and fluorine feed,â Mayor Terry Stoneburner said. âThere are no existing backup pumps and these pumps are critical to the water treatment process. The three existing pumps would become backup pumps.â
The lowest quote received for the pumps was for $2,950.96 from USABlueBook, water department Superintendent Andrew Messina wrote in the councilâs agenda.
