On Sunday, July 17, the final day of the 86th Northwest Water Carnival, big crowds showed up for the annual Parade of the Northwest and a grand finale show by Bald Eagle Water Ski Shows out of Centerville, Minn. The water carnival's co-admirals said attendance was very high for most events during its 10-day run, which began July 8.
A big crowd of radio listeners watched the KFAN Power Trip Morning show broadcast the Northwest Water Carnival's annual Kegs and Eggs event from The Pavilion in Detroit Lakes on July 15.
A favorite of Northwest Water Carnival attendees, Saturday's Demolition Derby nearly filled the stands at the Becker County Fairgrounds for some contentious competition.
85th Northwest Water Carnival draws to a close with concerts and a water-filled parade
With record-breaking numbers for events like the water fights on Wednesday night and bingo on Thursday, and good attendance throughout its 10-day run, Detroit Lakes 85th Annual Northwest Water Carnival was deemed an unqualified success by organizers. Sunday s Parade of the Northwest drew 112 entries, maintaining its reputation as one of the state s largest.
