Members of the DL Jaycees presented the license and permit applications for the 87th Northwest Water Carnival during the March 14 City Council meeting. The applications were approved unanimously.
Hundreds of gun and bingo enthusiasts crowded into The Pavilion in Detroit Lakes for their chance to win more than 15 firearms, and raise money for the Detroit Lakes Jaycees and Lakes Area Humane Society during a gun bingo event on Saturday, Oct. 8.
With 15 guns to be given away to Bingo winners and another 8 guns to be raffled, the Detroit Lakes Jaycees hope the allure of free firearms will draw another 400 people to their Gun Bingo event at the Detroit Lakes Pavilion on Oct. 8.
The Detroit Lakes Jaycees are hosting a Candy Cane Hunt for lakes-area families on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 18, with the proceeds to benefit Jaycees Christmas projects in the community. Families that would like Jaycees volunteers to come spread the colorful, tasty candies on their lawns, or around the outside of their homes for the kids to find in the morning must place their online-only orders no later than Wednesday, Dec. 15.
