Andrew Castardi said the vibrant culture and the possibility of adding to the diverse eateries of Northwood Village are what prompted he and his partner to open up Sirgaes Wood Fire Pizza. Business has been very good. The neighborhood has been good to us, lots of catering with the neighborhood and we just love it here, he said.
Woodfire pizzas and fresh paninis are not the only things being built from scratch in the community. He s aware of the Northwood Commons project and he s excited.

Black-owned restaurants continue to multiply in Palm Beach County
There’s something decidedly retro about celebrating Black history exclusively in February, especially in a county as diverse as Palm Beach County. Surely there are reasons to celebrate Black history and support Black-owned businesses throughout the year.
In that spirit, we offer our running list of Black-owned restaurants in the county. We’ll continue to update it as the dining landscape evolves. We hope this list will prove handy.
McCray’s Backyard Bar-B-Q, Mangonia Park
Barbecue pitmaster Derrick McCray s meat-smoking talents are well regarded beyond Palm Beach County. He s been catering NFL-sanctioned Super Bowl events since 2007. A longtime roadside pitmaster, McCray is the owner of McCray s Backyard Bar-B-Q in Mangonia Park, which and Riviera Beach. The Mangonia Park location, which opened in the summer of 2019, boasts drive-through and takeout windows.
