Romania plans to purchase 32 F-35 fighter planes from Lockheed Martin for $6.5 billion. This decision comes as the country has raised its defense spending to 2.5% of GDP in response to Russia s invasion of Ukraine. Romania shares a border with Ukraine and has seen the conflict approach its borders. The F-35 purchase was approved in April, and the country is now seeking parliamentary approval to begin the purchasing process.
