WESTFORD The town wants to meet a state goal of reducing carbon emission, but there are differing views on how to go about it.
The Select Board held a joint meeting Dec. 8 with the Energy Committee to discuss the directives of Article 14, approved by voters at fall special Town Meeting.
The meeting took place virtually, due to coronavirus restrictions.
The board voted unanimously to expand and rename the Energy Committee to reflect its new duties. The board will continue the conversation in January.

WESTFORD With many businesses bearing the brunt of the economic crisis, the Select Board has waived all town liquor license fees for the first six months of 2021.
The list includes all alcohol and wine and malt licenses.
However, the board noted the town is grappling with fiscal issues of its own as the coronavirus continues to take a toll both on the economy and public health.

The board voted unanimously on the measure at its Dec. 8 meeting, held virtually due to coronavirus restrictions. Payments for the second six months will come due next June.
