Singles stars PV Sindhu and Srikanth Kidambi, men’s doubles pairing Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty entered the semi-finals of the Swiss Open Super 300 tournament with contrasting wins on Friday in Basel. Olympic silver medallist Sindhu advanced to final four with a straight-game win over Thai Busanan Ongbamrungphan and apart from the later stages of the second game, had the proceedings under control.

Basel (Switzerland), March 6 : Second seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty of India rallied hard to beat Malaysians Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi 12-21, 21-19, 21-12 to enter men’s doubles semi-finals in the Swiss Open BWF World Tour Super 300 on Saturday.
The rivals have played against each other three times now, with the 13th ranked Indian duo winning their head-to-head encounters against the 13th ranked Malaysians twice. The Indians’ latest win came at the $140,000 prize money tournament at St. Jakobshalle Basel in Basel on Saturday.

Denmark retained the European Mixed Team Badminton Championship after thumping France in the final in Vantaa, Finland today.
Denmark have won this competition 17 times and started strongly in the best of five games tie courtesy of world number two Viktor Axelsen.
Axelsen won the men’s singles encounter 21-16 21-12 against European junior champion Christo Popov.
The next match, the women’s singles game, also went the Danes way with Mia Blichfeldt victorious in straight games against Qi Xuefei.
Despite Xuefei getting her nose in front in the second game, Blichfeldt closed out a 21-18 21-19 victory to put Denmark one game away from retaining their mixed team title.
