Saturday, 20 February 2021 Denmark retained the European Mixed Team Badminton Championship after thumping France in the final in Vantaa, Finland today. Denmark have won this competition 17 times and started strongly in the best of five games tie courtesy of world number two Viktor Axelsen. Axelsen won the men’s singles encounter 21-16 21-12 against European junior champion Christo Popov. The next match, the women’s singles game, also went the Danes way with Mia Blichfeldt victorious in straight games against Qi Xuefei. Despite Xuefei getting her nose in front in the second game, Blichfeldt closed out a 21-18 21-19 victory to put Denmark one game away from retaining their mixed team title.

Denmark to defend European Badminton Mixed Team title in Finland Monday, 15 February 2021 Denmark are set to defend their crown at the upcoming 2021 European Mixed Team Badminton Championships in Vantaa in Finland, starting tomorrow. The Danish team has won the past three editions of the biennial competition and have won all but one Championship since 1996. To progress, Denmark must finish in the top two of their group, which also consists of hosts Finland, 2013 champions Germany and the returning Scotland - back for the first time since 2015. In-form players Anders Antonsen and Viktor Axelsen will look to help the champions retain their title.
