While the agreement wasn’t unanimous, the Brookfield Board of Education has voted in favor of adopting the superintendent’s proposed 2024-25 school budget. The total budget was cut by nearly $46,000 from the original amount proposed, and it comes in at $53.62 Million. That still, marks a 6.4% increase over the current year’s budget. The final vote was 5 to 2 in favor of adoption.
The results of a recent survey by the online organization “Upgraded Points” are… well… chilling! Connecticut residents are projected to have the11th largest increase among all states in utility bills this winter. Here in Connecticut, where folks primarily rely on heating oil to heat their homes, residents saw average household utility costs of $389 each month during the winter of 2019 and 2020. This winter, they’re projected to spend an average of $506 each month… a 29.8% increase and the 11th largest among all U.S. states. The full report is available HERE.
