Heather McLogan, 49, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse in Fredricks’ death, which stemmed from an April 29, 2020, incident at the now-closed residential youth treatment facility. Fredricks died two days later in a Kalamazoo hospital as a result of “sequelae of restraint asphyxia,” meaning the teen was receiving a lack of oxygen and blood flow.
