Lenovo, which replaced Samsung at the top, saw its commercial business registering robust growth, driven by government and education sectors, showed CMR’s Tablet PC Market Report Review for 2020. It maintained good score on tablet market demand in the last 14 consecutive quarters. Lenovo Tab M10 (HD) series garnered 10 per cent market share.

Anand Priya Singh, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR says, In 2021 and beyond, the smartphone industry would gain strength, driven by feature phone users transiting to entry-level smartphones, and new, powerful offerings across price tiers, including 5G-capable smartphone offerings at mid to lower price tiers, including in the Rs 20,000 price band. Although the 5G network would not be available until late 2022 or early 2023 in the country, smartphone vendors such as OnePlus and realms are bullish on launching 5G-ready devices for the masses, says the market research firm CMR.

In the festive quarter (Q4), Xiaomi captured 27 per cent market share and became the top smartphone brand. realme, OnePlus and itel recorded strong growth (year-on-year) when compared to Q4 2019, according to CMR “Mobile Handset Market Review Report”. “For the Indian smartphone industry, the year 2020 was a remarkable story marked by response, recovery and resilience in the face of the persistent pandemic,” said Anand Priya Singh, Analyst-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR.
