The enduringly popular summer concert series, Tuesdays in the Park, returns to the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell on Tuesday, June 7, with a performance by the Lakes Area Community Concert Band.
Though she will be leaving her position as executive director of the Historic Holmes Theatre at the end of July, Amy Stoller Stearns says it wasn't a lack of job satisfaction that prompted her to move on from the job she's held for 20 years. Rather, she's excited by the challenge of taking on a leadership role in a new, soon-to-be-announced local nonprofit.
For almost as long as there has been a Historic Holmes Theatre, Amy Stoller Stearns has been at its helm. But at the end of July, Stearns will be leaving her post as the theater's executive director. She plans to take on a new role as leader of a soon-to-be-formed nonprofit organization.
The first meeting of the new commission was held Wednesday, March 23. Members discussed the results of a community survey that had been done a couple of years back, in which respondents gave the community "a solid 'B'" grade on its various creative and cultural endeavors, according to commission chair Amy Stoller Stearns.
The Historic Holmes Theatre will be hosting back-to-back theatrical shows this coming weekend, March 12-13, with William Shakespeare's "Macbeth" on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" on Sunday at 2 p.m.
