The Jathedar of Akal Takht (the highest temporal seat of Sikhs) also questioned police's competence, wondering why they have not been able to nab the self-styled Sikh preacher despite having such a big force.
Chief Minister Baghel said, "As far as the Sikh community is concerned, their sacrifices for the country cannot be ignored but anti-national activities will not be allowed to take place."
"An alert has been issued in Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar districts of the state as a precaution in view of the possibility of pro-Khalisthan Amritpal Singh entering the state," a senior police officer said.
At the Shambhu border with Punjab, Ambala police have been put on high alert, officials said on Sunday. Additional checkpoints have been set up and a large number of police personnel have been deployed there, they said.
As the chase for Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh entered Day 3, his uncle and driver surrendered today. His uncle Harijit Singh and driver Harpreet turned themselves in at Punjab's Mehatpur.
