Amravati: Amid a sharp spike in the number of coronavirus infections, a weekend lockdown has been imposed in Maharashtra s Amravati from Saturday 8 pm in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
During the lockdown period, markets and other establishments will remain shut. However, all essential services will remain unaffected, as per the district administration. The weekend lockdown will end on Monday at 7 am.

Both Amravati and Yavatmal fall in Vidarbha, a region that has been reporting a steady rise in Covid-19 cases since the start of February.
