The Central Government, has recently, in exercise of its powers under Section 26-A of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 , vide various notifications , prohibited the manufacture of 14 Fixed Dose.
The Delhi High Court has sought the stand of the Centre on a petition by a pharmaceutical company challenging the government's decision to ban manufacture, sale and distribution for human use certain Fixed Dose Combination (FDC) drugs.
The Health Ministry reannounced the ban after it was challenged by pharmaceutical companies in court, based on an expert committee’s recommendations.
