Herb Jones Named 3rd Team AP All-American
Alabama s Herb Jones and the SEC s Player of the Year was named to the AP All-American Third Team. The senior adds another achievement to his historic season that has gained recognition by the entire nation entering the NCAA Tournament.
Jones was also the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and this certainly has helped him get noticed by AP to honor him as an All-American. The fact Jones dominates on both sides of the floor establishes him as one of the country s best players. Jones has averaged 11.2 points per game, along with 6.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Not to mention he has won the beloved hard hat eighteen times that Alabama coach Nate Oats gives out after every game.

The Big West Conference today announced that 22 individuals were named 2020 Big West Scholar Athletes of the Year. The conference honored two student-athletes from each institution – including UC Santa Barbara softball player Samantha Fabian and men s basketball player Amadou Sow – acknowledging their accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in their communities. On Wednesday, these exemplary scholar athletes will be featured in the Big West Academic honors, a half hour show on ESPN3, which will highlight the exploits of both current and former student-athletes who push the boundaries of being a Scholar Athlete.

DALLAS (Feb. 17, 2021) – Washington State junior first baseman Kyle Manzardo picked up his second preseason All-America accolade of 2021 after being named to the 2021 Preseason All-America Third Team by the
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Wednesday. Manzardo was named to the Preseason All-American Third Team by
Collegiate Baseball in December.
Manzardo, who earned All-American third-team honors from
Collegiate Baseball last season, finished a shorted 2020 season with a .435 batting average with seven doubles, three home runs, 14 RBI, a .500 on-base percentage and a Pac-12 best 27 hits. The Coeur d Alene, Idaho native tied for the league lead in doubles, was second in batting average and was fourth in slugging (.694) and runs scored (21).
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State freshman Scottie Barnes, the Seminoles’ leader in assists and steals, has been named as one of the Top 10 candidates for the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award by the Nasimith Basketball Hall of Fame. Barnes is one of three freshmen from around the nation and one of only two players from the ACC selected as one of the top candidates for the award named for former Boston College and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy.
Barnes enters Wednesday’s game against Miami at the Donald L. Tucker Center as Florida State’s’ leader in assists (40 / 4.0 apg) and steals (14 / 1.4 spg) while ranking second in scoring (10.6 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (40 / 4.0 rpg). He ranks fifth in the ACC in assist:turnover ratio (2.1:1) and seventh in the ACC in assists.
