Its been a fascinating experience seeing different cabinet agencies and how the different organizations work. Im joined today by four really excellent panelists i think youre going to enjoy hearing from. I first want to introduce Alex Herrgott who is executive director of the public improvement counsel, fipsi. He has been in that role since september 2018. He had been serving previously as the associate director for infrastructure for counsel on Environmental Quality at the white house. Mr. Herrgott worked for senator james earnhoff in california. Not that long ago, Department Stores were where you went to get new shoes for a Job Interview or something nice for a birthday gift. Marshall fields in chicago, beltz in atlanta, barneys in new york. The oldest and most storied though is lord taylor, 1826 which means it survived the civil war and the great depression, but it could not survive the modern day. Lord taylor faced the same problem all other stores have faced. Ecommerce, a changing clientele, declining foot traffic at malls. The thing to watch for is hong kong. If you get a bad situation in hong kong its can affect the trade negotiations and a lot of other things as well. He was so adamant in terms of this extradition. The demonstrators also realize that beijing has been engaged in stepbystep. This is it for them. Thats where the protesters are. They see the future threatened by all of this. And they dont have a place to go. This is it for them. A does he really feel threatened by this affront to beijings power. The trade talks where theyre going to be be somewhat influenced by that. He thinks it is completely unlike 2015 this is a really serious Pressure Point for beijing administration i think thats pretty serious. To your point its a different crowd coming out.
