Advanced Micro Devices, or AMD, has partnered with Indian 4G and 5G equipment makers to offer telecommunications solutions in the country where it has 10,000 employees working on research and development, validation, software development and chip architecture design. AMD will invest $400 million in India over the next five years.
Over the last two months, semiconductor majors such as Micron, Applied Materials, AMD, and Lam Research, among others have announced their plans to expand presence in India.
The California-based chipmaker will use that investment to open its biggest research and development centre in the tech hub of Bengaluru, CTO Papermaster said.
