Delhi government adds 718 new COVID-19 beds in 11 hospitals ANI | Updated: Apr 14, 2021 23:31 IST New Delhi [India], April 14 (ANI): In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in the national capital, the Delhi government has added 718 new COVID-reserved beds in 11 hospitals. This is the fourth time the Delhi government has increased the number of beds in hospitals in the last 15 days. The total number of COVID-reserved beds in these hospitals has gone up to 5,221. The number of ICU beds and ventilators have also been increased in hospitals. There were 628 ventilators in these hospitals and 28 more ventilators have been added. With the addition of 187 ICU beds, the total number of ICU beds in the national capital will reach 874.

NEW DELHI: Amid an exponential surge in Covid cases, Delhi government on Monday declared 14 private hospitals as full Covid facilities and increased the number of beds in other private hospitals from 50% to 60%, adding 2,060 Covid beds. Another 593 beds were created in six government hospitals, including Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital, Burari Hospital, Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital and Ambedkar Nagar Hospital, all fully Covid hospitals. Delhi reported 11,491 new Covid cases in the past 24 hours and the number of active cases has crossed 38,000, challenging the existing healthcare infrastructure. The situation regarding the occupancy and availability of Covid beds was assessed in a meeting chaired by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday.
